ABOUT OUR TEAM

WHY CHOOSE MACH 1 SPORTS PERFORMANCE?

A TORCH HAS BEEN PASSED.

Founder and Owner, Shane Anderson’s athletic journey was changed by a sports performance coach who showed him how to eat, train, and recover properly taking his game to the next level. It allowed him to live out his dream of getting to display his skill set for an NFL team. He wanted to pass that knowledge and process on to other athletes to help them achieve their dreams.

M1 Sports Performance Coach, Mik was one of Shane’s athletes who was a great athlete but was limited by his size. After training with Shane, Mik became a nationally ranked olympic weightlifter and achieved his lifelong dream of being able to dunk. At 5’5.5” this is not an easy feat and took a lot of hard work and sacrifice. Mik reached the pinnacle of his athletic prowess and wants to help other athletes reach theirs too, regardless of size.

We thrive on educating athletes on the importance of training and maximizing their potential. We are living our dream by helping the youth. We are passing the torch.

Shane Anderson is a Sports Performance Coach and Personal Trainer from Phoenix, AZ. He graduated from the University of Nevada in 2011 where he played football for the Wolf  Pack and held the all time school record for wide receivers in the bench press and back squat.

A few years later, Shane began his pursuit of elite level knowledge at ASU by working with collegiate athletes. He was able to work with several different athletic teams at ASU and learn the most updated and effective techniques for high level sports performance training.

After 6 months at ASU, Shane was hired by Foothills Acceleration and Sports Training, where he produced over 20+ collegiate athletes, 1 NFL player, and several NBA G league and oversea basketball players.

Shane loves producing high-level athletes but has also found great pleasure in working with general population clients who want to take their fitness to the next level. He currently boasts a book of over 30+ personal training clients who have achieved their fitness goals while becoming happier and healthier than ever.

Shane still enjoys training himself and competed in Olympic Weightlifting up until 2016 in which he was ranked 18th in the nation for his weight class. Now, most of his time goes towards spending time with his wife and new young daughter Capri and sneaking in workouts whenever he has the chance.

Mik grew up in Central Phoenix, attending the Madison School District Schools, and then went on to Sunnyslope High School. While attending college at Phoenix College and ASU, he spent his free time back at the local Phoenix schools to coach basketball.

It was at this time that he started  training in the weight room as an athlete under Shane Anderson, which eventually led to competing in  Olympic Weightlifting. As an Olympic athlete, he placed in the country’s top 50. This is when his new found athleticism led to a goal of dunking at his height: 5’5”.

Training is more than just lifting weights and sprinting. For the last 6 years, he’s trained athletes and helped them make gains in strength, speed, confidence, and mentality. This has led to opportunities such as scholarships, professional contracts, and helping athletes achieve their overall goals. Given the obstacles with Mik’s height and being considered the underdog, he has found his passion in coaching the athletes who have already been counted out - the ones who have a dream that seems too crazy and too big to others. He understands what it’s like to be doubted, and it’s his mission to help those in the same boat.

On a personal note, he’s always down for a pick up and dunk session.  And if he had to pick just one lift for the rest of his life it would be a Snatch.
